Here is a perfect example of "too much of a good thing is bad". Because the compost is sooooo airy, it does not hold water well. Many of my plants are now so big that their water needs are soon to exceed what the compost and container can provide, aka wilt. I knew this problem was coming, but not so soon. My solution is to create an irrigation "drip system". Basically it is a long hose that goes from plant to plant to plant that drops small amounts of water on each plant according to its needs. These systems are commercially available, but I cannot afford to buy one. Therefore, I am forced to use materials I already have or can get for free to make my own custom made drip system. Until then I will have to water by hand and not let 24 hours pass without visually checking on them. With summer temperatures coming, plants can crash fast regardless of where they are planted and some have little tolerance or ability to recover from wilting.
As always, I am literally sitting in my garden typing on my phone (Android using Swype).
